MEET MICHELLE
Hi, I’m Michelle Germain, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) (she/her) providing in-person therapy in Toronto and virtual therapy across Ontario. My journey into this work began long before I became a therapist. My dad died suddenly when I was five years old. Grief was not something we talked about in my family, and I often received the message that I was too young for my loss to matter. As a result, I learned early what it felt like to have grief minimized and misunderstood.
Over the years, I experienced many other losses, including the death of my brother, multiple miscarriages, and significant life transitions. When my child underwent a gender transition, I felt both deep love and support while also grieving the loss of the daughter I had known. Through these experiences, I came to understand that grief is not something we simply get over—it is something we learn to carry and live alongside.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than 13 years as an entrepreneur. While I am grateful for that chapter of my life, I also understand the challenges that often come with it. Balancing the demands of running a business while raising children left me carrying a great deal of stress, guilt, and at times, a profound sense of isolation. Those experiences deepened my understanding of how easily people can lose themselves while caring for everyone and everything around them. Today, I bring that understanding into my work with clients who are navigating burnout, major life transitions, caregiving responsibilities, and the pressures of trying to do it all.
These experiences shape the way I work as a therapist. While every person’s grief is unique, I understand what it is like to feel unseen in your pain. My goal is to provide a space where all losses can be acknowledged, explored, and honoured without judgment or expectations. I believe healing begins when we feel seen, heard, and supported in the reality of our experience.
